This is a general set of things that should be noted prior to submitting an application for this RPG...
A. OVERUSED POWERS - Don’t use powers that are used by characters already. Don’t mix a bunch of unrelated powers together. Your mutant’s powers should make sense, and fit with how they deal with things in real life. Sound simple enough? All right then, while you’re at it, bear in mind that no applications, barring special circumstances, will be accepted with any of the following powers:
1)Telepathy with telekinesis (one or the other might work, but NOT both together)
2) Ice/Water/Fire/Electric Powers (together or seperate)
3) Darkness/Shadow/Demonic Powers
4) Healing/Healing Factor
5) Wings
6) Communion with the Dead
7) Cat/Feline/Feral powers (No claws. No cat ears. No fur in weird places)
B. OVERDONE HISTORIES/PERSONALITIES - Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are you to write a history for your character that involves main characters from the comics, ESPECIALLY VILLAINS. Magneto did not sleep around in his spare time between plans to push forward Mutant Supremacy. Apocalypse is highly antisocial and doesn’t even like the creations he’s already put out; he’s not likely to be making anymore anytime soon. Same goes for Mr. Sinister. The only exception to this rule is that you made arrangements with the players prior to submission, and if so, that player needs to post a response in your application letting us know they gave you their permission. Even then, it’s not a home free concept. Bio Mods have the right to override that.
Furthermore, here is a list of overused/cliché history concepts that will NOT be accepted in an application in this RPG (to be updated):
1) Abusive Childhood (this is arguable, because it can be played right. But if it's being done merely for attention, don't count on it)
2) Mental/Psychological problems (don't put these in your bio unless you know symptoms and its effect on the personality covereth to covereth)
3) WEAPON X or WEAPON PLUS (regardless of what the comics might make you believe, there aren't an infinite number of Canadian super soldiers running around)
4) Any secret government project (no, military units don't just kidnap people and use them as test subjects for experimental fighting groups on a regular basis)
5) Teenage Assassins/Mercenaries (If your character is 17, they are not skilled in ninjitsu. They are not awesome swordsmen, nor can they out-merc the likes of Sabretooth, Mystique, or Wolverine)
C. DEFINITE NONOS - This is just a general list of things that don't fit into the other categories that you should avoid (to be updated):
1) Adjusted Anime Characters
2) Characters Adapted from Other Comics (if you send the son of Jor-El and Lara to this RPG disguised under a different name, you'd best pray for mercy)
3) Characters Adapted from Movies
4) Characters Adapted from Other Fictional Works
A general rule of thumb is just not to copy or base a character off of some other source, like Buffy, Star Wars, anything from DC Comics, etc etc.
