This is the adventure I had started working on with a friend trying to use all the MSH stats that we had done for as many different comics, timelines, universes, etc. as we could. This all started around 5 years ago or maybe even longer. This could be used as an adventure going through a few timelines or universes or as a much bigger campaign lasting as long as you want it to. Only actually got some background and chapter 1 written but tell me what you think and any ideas for this. Thanks,
Ty
QUEST FOR THE TOMORROW PLANNER
A Marvel Superheroes RPG Adventure
Written by Ty R. States & Firebomb
Starring: The AVENGERS and the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA.
This adventure was written to try and give players and GM’s alike the chance to game with as many different characters from as many different universes and timelines as possible. The desire to have an adventure like this stemmed from the MSH mailing list and the near endless wealth of stats available there. This attempts to make use of as many of those stats as possible.
What is written here should be taken as guidelines for use with your own gaming group and campaign. Run this thing as long as possible, or only involve your players in a short piece of the story. Whatever works best for your game. I enjoy being able to have the players run (as PC’s) and interact with (NPC’s) as many different heroes and villains as possible.
This adventure will give you the chance to go to the following places:
Universes- Marvel, DC, Image, the New Universe, Amalgam, Squadron Supreme Earth, Homemade Multiverse, Ultraverse, Astro City (comic company?), Villains & Vigilantes (I have some stats from this game that could be thrown into another world). Last would be the option of using some movie, tv, book, etc. type of characters (Dr. Who comes to mind).
Timelines- 31st Century (Guardians of the Galaxy), Legion of Super Heroes (30th Century), L.E.G.I.O.N. (near in time to the LSH), 2099.
Of course, the GM is always free to come up with his own places for the players to journey to.
Here is a general outline of the adventure ahead.
1. The Lord of Time journeys from DC to Marvel and steals a super-time predicting computer from the Collector. The LoT throws the heroes off track at first by making it look like Braniac stole the item.
2. Kang notices this and decides he would like to have it.
3. Collector enlists the aid of the heroes.
4. Heroes go to the DCU to get it back.
5. Immortus steps in once they have it and wipes them from existence.
6. The DC heroes know they once existed and are told by Dr. Fate.
7. DC heroes come to Marvel, Dr. Strange says Immortus did it.
8. Heroes travel to Limbo to confront Immortus. If they win, they learn they must fight Immortus in the spot he changed continuity.
9. Heroes think things are good, but Marvel mystics say Kang stole the computer.
10. After getting to Kang, during the fight the item falls into the time stream.
11. With some leads as to where, they travel to various realities looking for it.
Prologue:
The Time Lord used time travel to commit crimes in other eras than his own. How he got started is unknown, first seen on 20th Century Earth, bringing warriors from the past and future to do his bidding, looting for him. This brought the JLA to battle his minions, but even as they did so Felix Faust used his sorcerous powers to spirit them away. After defeating Faust, the JLA returned to track down TL, only to see him vanish into time. Superman noted the setting on his wrist device, and was able to take the JLA to the year 3786 to capture TL.
Though delayed by 3 demons in the 21st Century (FF's demons) the heroes finally returned the LoT to 20th Century Earth for trial/imprisonment. But using his futuristic science, he escaped and battled them on several subsequent occasions.
Indeed, the LoT engineered what was the most crushing and total defeat of the JLA and the Justice Society. In his timeless lair, he constructed the ETERNITY brain, a computer that could actually control time. With it he
planned to stop time for his criminal purposes. Then he discovered that once stopped the time flow could never be started again and the computer couldn't be halted.
So he arranged to bring heroes from the past and endow them with powers that would enable them to deal a crushing defeat to the JLA and JSA at their annual get-together. Then he would lure the heroes to his lair, hoping that their defeat would make them stronger, strong enough to defeat the Eternity Brain and save the space-time continuum. It worked, and though only Elongated Man reached the brain, he used his elastic body to short-circuit it. Despite capture, TL was glad his original scheme failed. This may have led to his eventual reformation. He went into the far future and cloned a family, 6 sons and a daughter. When they grew to adulthood, the sons revolted against the father. With the aid of the 20th Century hero STEEL, the TL regained his chrono-cube, which his sons had stolen, and went back in time to prevent their creation.
Through the use of his Chrono-Cube and other dimensional scanning equipment, he discovered the Marvel Universe. The LoT began watching and came across the Collector, one of the Elders of the Universe. The Collector has plenty of things the LoT would like to have, but he saw one item in particular.
A compact mega-computer so advanced that it would allow him to predict the results of any alteration to the timeline with a phenomenal degree of detail and accuracy. The Collector had it because as the most advanced and compact computer ever built, it is (of course) one-of-a-kind. He wouldn't want it to fall into ANY "mortal" hands because it would also be useful for predicting the future if you fed in data on what was going on RIGHT NOW.
The Lord of Time saw the usefulness in such a device, and embarked upon a plan to steal it. His first use of the computer would be to help him prevent the creation of his sons. He also decided he didn’t want any interference from the JLA or anybody else, so decided to frame someone. Braniac would be a likely choice, as he is a computer himself and also has the means to travel dimensions and the ability to pull this off.
Through the use of the Imitation powers in his battlesuit and some illusions, he could easily make it appear as if Braniac broke into the Collector’s ship and stole the super-computer. The surprise attack helped a great deal in allowing the LoT to catch the Collector off-guard and get away.
Epoch is a power-mad psycho. He is infatuated with ruling not only the world but ruling all of time. His preoccupation with mastering time is why he often plays with his opponents, attempting to kill their pasts instead of killing them outright, for example.
Base of operations: Originally Earth in the year 3786, later, a timeless dimension adjacent to Earth, finally, the year A.D. One Billion.
Eyes: Blue, Hair: Black. later white.
POWERS: Though he has no powers of his own, the TL's knowledge of futuristic science and mastery of time through his chrono-cube enables him to field an awesome array of deadly weapons against the law. He is not one to rely on hand-to-hand combat and has never had to resort to it.
Someone else that observes what is going on in the time stream took notice of these events. Kang the Conqueror also saw the usefulness in the Collector’s super-computer. Always good at biding his time, Kang waited for the right moment to take it for himself.
He walked about his roaming, intergalactic museum, observing various bits and pieces of his collection. That ultra-rare, pre-nega bomb Kree mutant, that patch of earth from the Nexus of Realities in Florida, that strange world stolen from a micro-verse.
He loved his collection, every single bit of it, for it is a reflection of the things that are, the things that have been, and, once the universe tears itself apart, the things he will reintroduce to creation. For that is the mission behind his collection: saving things for future peoples.
He was, of course, on his way to the core of his museum galley, where he kept his favorite toys, the items that weren't rare so much as truly unique. You know, where he used to hold the Reality Gem, and other such rarities. The one-of-a-kind stuff. Things like the Tomorrow Planner.
This device is the last of its type, built on a world that had discovered how to reliably predict future events. Using these prophecy machines, various factions had tried to ensure or prevent events predicted by this new technology, and destroyed their world in the process.
Only one such device, which has become known as the Tomorrow Planner, managed to escape this fate. The first - and last - of its kind, it was used to predict what would happen thanks to its own creation, and as such, the being using it fled his world in time to escape its end.
It passed from being to being across several galaxies, causing untold havoc thanks to its use, until he had finally tracked it down, storing it in his collection. Knowing that powerful beings would try and take it from him, he properly secured it behind over 250 lethal safe guards. That's why the Collector didn't take the security alarm too seriously.
After all, the Planner was protected against unwanted teleportation, dimensional transit, time travel, and simple theft by picking it up and carrying it off the ship. You can imagine the Collector's surprise, then, when he found out what had happened.
The Tomorrow Planner had, indeed, been stolen. Somebody had defeated the single most deadly security system in the universe (another part of his collection, incidentally), walking off with not only the Planner, but the entire room it was stored in.
