Physical Features:
He is quite well-toned from his years working alongside his brother and father as a park ranger protecting the gorillas in Virunga National Park. He is not handsome but has a very disarming personality.
Clothes:
When 'lounging' around Khalifa feels comfortable in his 'safari outfit'. However it is not uncommon for him to don his traditional 'tribal' costume for special occasions. It beats a tuxedo for pulling the ladies any day!
Personality:
Can suffer from extreme bouts of melancholia and depression which sometimes leads to unhealthy binge-drinking sessions. He can vary from being bright, funny and intelligent to absolutely morose over the space of a day. Xavier has not been able to rectify the problem and assumes it may have something to do with Khalifas X-genes. In extreme cases Khalifa can become murderous and almost uncontrollable (this is extremely rare). He seems to have hit the soft-spots of all the senior female members of the organisation - 'go figure'!

Powers:
Khalifa has two 'forms' - his normal human form and then the transformation into his ape form which can be either performed at will or may be triggered through rage or or going into berserker frenzy. In his human form he is not much stronger than normal humans but as the 'ape' his physical attributes increase dramatically while his mental faculties diminish slightly (or totally in berserk mode).

Strengths:
Though boisterous/jovial or manicly depressed, Khalifa has an extraordinary ability as a tracker once out in the wilderness. These are skills taught to him by the tribal elders of local villages during his early youth.
Weaknesses:
Khalifa has the potential to become an alcoholic (see personality notes) and if his mood swings become more serious he may find himself at odds with the Team and law enforcement agencies. Xavier had asked other members of the team to subdue Khalifa if he transforms into his ape form whilst suffering a rage/berserker fit as Xavier has suspicions that he may not be able to tell friend from foe in this condition. It is not known whether Khalifa will lose his powers if his golden arm torques, greaves and belt are destroyed and he will not remove them under any circumstances!
(His ‘Silverback’ powers are linked to these ‘magical’ items, but the rest of his powers, etc. are natural/mutant abilities).
Family:
Ugandan guerilla fighters had crossed the border into the national park to avoid a Rwandan border patrol unfortunately they spotted the rangers and holiday makers cavalcade of vehicles and decided to ambush the patrol for fuel, supplies and provisions. In the aftermath nineteen tourists lay dead amongst the burning wreckage along with the bodies of five rangers - Khalifa had lost his father and only brother, his mother had died three years previously from an untreated case of tuberculosis.
History:
Little is currently known about Khalifa's youth apart from his work as a park ranger in Virunga National Park and the tragedy that befell him there (see Family).
Vehicle:
Khalifa has an affinity with most 4-wheel drive 'utility' vehicles. He personally owns an open-back 'stretched' Land Rover similar to those driven during his days as a park ranger.
Relationships:
Khalifa while friendly enough with members of the opposite sex it seems impossible for any of them to get close to him and he sometimes seems stand-offish. Xavier hopes that time and use of his own skills will help Khalifa adapt to the loss of his family.
