FROM JAMESON’S DESK: MEMO TO ALL AGENTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Subject: Updated status of International Affairs- A Few Hotspots.
To All Agents: Please review the following information and appraise yourself of changes happening in the world scene as we know it, particularly as these things apply to operations worldwide.
1) As many of you should already know from last month’s Memo, the United States had in the works one of the most radical bits of legislation seen in the past 30 years. What you may not be aware of is that congress silently passed the so-called “Protecting America’s Sovereignty and Strength by Generating Accelerated Security” Act. Frankly folks, there’s a lot of things that really stink about this “act”. Things you need to know: This act has given all US government agencies search and seizure rights to any perceived threats to national security- first and foremost, any and all PNE’s. These rights have been expanded to consider all unregistered PNE’s potential enemies of the state, subject to execution should they fail to comply with apprehending agent’s demands. Please note, the provisions of this act are all-inclusive; Agents operating in the US who are apprehended may very well find themselves in a shoot first, ask questions later situation. Also, the Strange Happenings Investigative Team, a covert branch of the US Gov whom many of you are already well aware of, have been granted legal immunity within the US. Basically, it’s their turf now. All Agents are strongly advised to proceed with extreme caution in all operations taking place within the US. Also, the US has declared that all of their Worldwide Operations Agents have diplomatic immunity, and have declared it illegal for any US Agent to be tried in any court outside of the US. This provision has yet to be tested, but my money says it’ll never stand up in the International Courts. The UN has yet to comment on any of the United States new laws.
2) Our sources within the USSR inform us that the Union is on the verge of some massive upheavals. The Politicians seem to be losing their power, and the Generals are losing their patience. We have reason to believe that the Directorate has some influence in these entire affairs, but this has yet to be confirmed. Chances are good that the Soviet Union is going to splinter up sometime in the near future, or there will be a military coup staged by a coalition of generals. This could be very good in the bigger picture, or very, very bad. It is advised that all Agents operating within Soviet territory keep their eyes and ears open, and bear in mind that sometimes bribery can get you everywhere.
3) The continent of Africa is pretty much in the same instable state as it has been for the past 20 years. Through our UN and Interpol connections, we have Operational Jurisdiction within most countries there- particularly UN member states, but don’t look to that as protection if you find yourself backed into a corner by a group of rebels. Agents are advised to appraise themselves of the current political climate of any given country as well as its neighboring countries, and to proceed with caution in any operations within Africa.
4) Central and South America have changed very little in the past year. The majority of the local official governments are more than willing and happy to offer operational assistance to Agents doing missions within their borders, but any such assistance should be considered anything but reliable. Most of these countries are continually in a state of Civil War or some sort of unrest, so as with Africa, Agents are advised to appraise themselves of the current political climates before proceeding with operations there.
Europe, Asia, and Australia all give little to report at the moment, however that should not be taken to mean that nothing is going on in those regions.
As situations change, you will be advised via other inter-agency memos.
Keep Fighting the Good Fight,
Director J.J. Jameson
