Aeon Enterprises
Tomorrow’s Workforce Today!
Aeon Enterprises was founded first and foremost as a job-placement and training firm for super-powered beings of all sorts. From these humble beginnings grew a much larger corporation, now comprised of three separate, yet interconnected entities:
Aeon University- AU is a specialized school with the mission of helping super-powered beings better learn to control and utilize their special powers. Along with that, of course, comes the necessary training for any number of related job fields. AU networks with local universities in the respective areas to give its students the best options available for learning a trade, as well as learning to live with their “gifts”.
AE Research Division- Specializes in keeping up with and seeking to better understand the nature of Super-powers of all sorts, as well as offering support and specialized medical facilities for those super-beings with special needs.
AE Job Placement- Serves as a sort of “middle-man”, connecting super-powered beings with employers seeking exactly those types of persons with specialized super-powers for the field. Also has a working agreement with the government, so that those super-beings wishing to serve their country can apply for entrance into such organizations.
And now, a brief interview with AE’s president and founder, Mr. Jenckson:
Interviewer: “So tell us, Mr. Jenckson, how did AE get started?”
Mr. Jenckson: “Funny you should ask. Actually, Aeon Enterprises is a very personal thing for me- I actually owe everything to my son. Y’see, sometime after my kid turned 16 he started developing his ‘mutant powers’. Before then, we had no idea. His body started changing, and he grew gills on his neck and his hands and feet became webbed. He was working at Buddy’s Burger Barn at the time, and as soon as they found out he was a ‘Mutant’, he was fired- on the grounds that they didn’t want the liability that came with having a ‘mutant’ for an employee. Fer cryin’ out loud- the kid’s only ‘super-powers’ are the ability to swim faster’n a fish and breathe underwater. That’s it. But regardless, he got fired, and trying to find another job was dang near impossible- everybody gave the same excuse. In the end, it got me to thinking- what if we could somehow turn what everyone else considered a ‘liability’ into a benefit? And so the gears started turning, and I formed a plan. I already was working in the Job Placement field at the time, so it was pretty much a simple matter of contacting the different companies and corporations and selling them my pitch. A few went for it, and we got the funding we needed, and AE Job Placement was born. After things really took off, we branched out into research, and then AU was just a natural.”
Int: “So what’s your son doing now?”
Mr. J: “He works for the Coast Guard doing Search-and-Rescue work. Dang good at it, too- it’s practically what he was made to do. He also does the occasional job for those undersea expedition things, looking for sunken ships and such. Anything having to do with swimming or diving, he’s up for it.”
Int: “Some folks are saying that introducing super-powered beings into the job market is going to cost normal people- non-super-powered people- jobs. What do you have to say about that?”
Mr. J: “It’s a load of BS. Before AE started, the unemployment rate of super-powered beings was 96%. The only options most of these folks had was to throw on a costume or become a criminal. Let’s face it- not everyone wants to be a hero- most folks just want what everyone else does- a job, a family, all that good stuff. But these people were being cut out of all that just because nature decided to have a little fun. Now, these folks have a chance- and let me tell you, a lot of companies are really beginning to jump on it, too. It saves them tons of money not having to buy extra equipment and health insurance. Besides, the percentage of the population with super-powers is less than 1%, so folks don’t have anything to worry about.”
Int: “Does Aeon do anything to help people gain super-powers?”
Mr.J: “No way. Our company only works with those who already have super-powers. We are not in the business of creating super-powered people.”
And a few words from some of AE’s clients:
“Yeah, we got 2 Aeon guys on the force. Gotta say, it’s probably one of the best things that’s ever happened to us. This one guy’s bullet-proof, see, and makes one helluva good cop. The crime rate on his beat is down to nuthin’, and the guy never even takes a sick day! The other guy’s got this power that helps him see things that’ve happened in a place- we’ve got him working investigations, and he’s more’n cut the time in half from what we used to haveta do in detective work…”- Police Chief Wiggins, 9th Precinct.
“Joe is one of the best Fire Rescue guys we’ve got. It helps, of course, that he’s fire-proof. I can’t begin to count the number of lives he’s saved with his fire-controlling powers.”- Fireman Jack Simms.
