Given the immense popularity of Superman and his fellow superheroes, it is hardly surprising that there have been no lack of PC games based on the Marvel and DC Comics universe, as well as new superheroes created for the games. The superheroes' universe is also a goldmine for PC games-- with cool superpowers, lots of innovative villains with grandiose take-over-the-world plans, the possibilities are endless. Every PC adaptation of comic book superheroes falls roughly into one of the following categories: 1) Graphical adventure game (Scott dam's Questprobe series), 2) Action games with RPG and strategy elements (Paragon Software's games), and 3) Side-scrolling arcade games (Ocean's Batman: The Movie). Of these, Questprobe featuring The Hulk and X-Men 2 stand out as great examples of an effective and worthwhile use of the comic license. Home Of The UnderdogsGetting DOS Games to run under Windows XPFirst things first. There is no DOS in Windows XP! What is called the "command prompt" is not really DOS ... it can be thought of as more of a simulation of DOS. Windows XP (and Windows 2000), unlike Windows 95, 98, and ME, are NOT built on an MSDOS foundation. So, while this makes for better speed and stability, it also makes for sometimes lousy backwards compatibility. DOSGames.com
