Before submitting any information please read the guidelines found here. Not all of the rules, regulations and character restrictions will apply to this game but it is important that you understand the requirements.
General Information
System: Mutants & Masterminds (Green Ronin)
Setting: Hellboy universe (Steve Jackson Games)
Location: San Angelo (Gold Rush Games)
Characters: Power Level 8
Character types
Unlike traditional superhero genres the Hellboy universe has a very dark, demonic feel with a twist of sardonic humour to it with the main characters (the players) drawing their skills, powers, and expertise from many sources including mystical, magical, technological and demonic.
Humans
Human character types very rarely have what could traditionally be recognised as 'super-powers'. These characters may simply be highly-skilled specialists through 'gimmicked up' agents to 'talents' whose powers lie either within their mind or through 'ancient' powers.
Magician/Mystic
Psychic
Priest
Paranormal Investigator
Special Forces
. . . etcetera
Half-breeds/Genetic Experiments
There are no limits to the depths that the human race will sink to in either the name of science or the pursuit of power. Characters from this category will either source their abilities from genetic manipulations or from inherited powers due to their parentage.
Homonculi/Constructs
Whether robotic or magical in nature these characters are artificial lifeforms whose powers are granted by their creators.
Demons
Demonic characters are still highly unusual in the service of the B.P.R.D. as they tend to attract much unwarranted attention from those who wish them harm or to subjugate their powers. Their enemies are wide and varied from witch hunters, priests, through to demonic lords. Watch your backs.
Submitting a character
Once you've created a concept for your character you will need to submit a detailed biography to the Bureau Applications. At this first stage all that is required is the biography which should include personality, personal history, friends, relatives, enemies, associates, fears, quirks, flaws, education, training, powers, talents, etc.
If you need assistance and/or inspiration with creating your character there are many articles to be found here that should provide all the help you need.
Sample Roleplay
Along with your characters biography you should submit a sample roleplay to demonstrate your writing ability. The roleplay should detail some turning point in your characters life. This should be at least four-hundred words long.
No character stats should be submitted at this stage, they will be removed from the write-up until approval of the biography is received.
Generating approved character stats, skills and powers
Once your character submission has been approved, either with modifications or without, you can then translate the characters biography into M&M terminology. Depending upon the character type you've chosen to play there may be certain restrictions, requirements or compulsory abilities that they must possess. This will be brought to your attention after character approval.
