Howard Steinman was also known as Hans Ubler. He ran a wax museum in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City and was shot to death by Ilsa Haupstein. During World War II, Steinman (ne Ubler) ran a freak-show/chamber of horrors/nightclub, which was popular in Himmler's inner circle (mystics, astrologers, and the pseudo-scientists working on various doomsday projects) as well as with the Project Ragna Rok. After Steinman fled Germany, he traveled across Europe and finally settled in New York City where his museum was popular with the underground art scene of the 1960s. Among the curiosities in Steinman's museum were a portrait, wax figure and the ashes of Vladimir Giurescu.
